We had a great session this morning for the November First Friday Book Synopsis. I presented my synopsis of David and Goliath by Malcolm Gladwell – an absolutely wonderful read! Karl Krayer presented his synopsis of The Truth about Leadership by the always insightful Kouzes and Posner. And then we had a terrific “bonus” hour of reflection on the Kennedy assassination with renowned journalist Hugh Aynesworth. All who stayed received an autographed copy of his book November 22, 1963: Witness to History.
Yes, just a wonderful morning.
Now, as December approaches, anybody got any shopping planned? How about from the Amazon web site? This might be a good month to learn about the genius behind this new “everything store.”
So, next month, we are looking at the current “hot” book about Amazon and Jeff Bezos — along with a genuine classic on managing the transitions which accompany disruptive change. The two books are:
The Everything Store: Jeff Bezos and the Age of Amazon by Brad Stone ( Little, Brown and Company: 2013).
Managing Transitions: Making the Most of Change by William Bridges and Susan Bridges (Da Capo Lifelong Books; Third Edition, Revised and Updated for the New Work Environment edition: 2009).
