( A very short post – worth pondering, I think).

So, I had lunch with a friend today. He runs a small size business. He runs it very, very well. He is as ”big” as he wants to be, but he is known and respected in bigger – much bigger – circles.
We talked about vision, strategy, focus, and the lack thereof in too many companies and businesses and organizations. We talked about what leaders don’t get right. I blurted out this sentence:
Too many leaders can’t answer this question clearly: “What are we trying to get done around here?”
I think that may be the magic sentence. Know the answer to that – and make sure everyone in any leadership position knows the answer to that – and you’ve got a much, much better chance of getting something done around here.
