This morning, we celebrated our 15th anniversary of the First Friday Book Synopsis. We have met every month since April, 1998. Karl Krayer presented his synopsis of Rebooting Work: Transform How You Work in the Age of Entrepreneurship by Maynard Webb and Carlyle Adler, and I presented my synopsis of Lean In: Women, Work, and the Will to Lead by Sheryl Sandberg. (Our synopses, with audio recordings of our presentations, plus our comprehensive handouts, will be available at our companion site, 15minutebusinessbooks.com, in just a few days).
We meet the first Friday of every month, And, at each meeting, we follow the same format: a great buffet breakfast at the wonderful Park City Club, followed by two fast paced synopses of good, useful business books. At the end, we give away a copy of each of the books, and two certificates for free attendance at a future First Friday Book Synopsis Gathering. We begin at 7:00 am, and end pretty close to 8:05 each time.
Next month, Karl will present his synopsis of Reinvent: A Leader’s Playbook for Serial Success by Fred Hassan. I will present my synopsis of Decisive: How to Make Better Choices in Life and Work by Chip Heath and Dan Heath. (This will be the third book I have presented by the Heath brothers).
