Antifragile & Conscious Capitalism – Our Selections for the March First Friday Book Synopsis

On Friday, we had a wonderful session for the February First Friday Book Synopsis.  Karl Krayer presented his synopsis of Metaskills: Five Talents for the Robotic Age by Marty Neumeier.  I presented my synopsis of To Sell is Human:  The Surprising Truth about Moving Others by Daniel Pink. The Pink book provided a journey through the recent history of sales, the current landscape for any one in sales, and this rather obvious and true assessment:  we are all in sales now…  It is a terrific book!

We have selected two important books for March, each of which has been widely reviewed and discussed.  Karl will present a synopsis of Conscious Capitalism: Liberating the Heroic Spirit of Business by John Mackey and Raj Sisodia (Harvard Business Review Press, 2013).  I will prepare my synopsis of Antifragile: Things That Gain from Disorder by Nassim Nicholas Taleb (Random House, 2012).

Bob Morris, our blogging colleague, has reviewed Antifragile.  Read Bob’s review here.  And here is a link to the Conscious Capitalism web site page that can take you to multiple reviews of this book.

You can purchase my synopsis of Taleb’s earlier book, The Black Swan, at our companion web site, 15minutebusinessbooks.com.  And, we should have our synopses of To Sell is Human and Metaskills available soon on the site.  All purchased synopses come with the audio recording of our presentations from the First Friday Book Synopsis, and our comprehensive handouts.

Note:  the March First Friday Book Synopsis will include our first “charity sponsorship” for 2013, Challenge Air, a wonderful nonprofit:

Challenge Air builds self-esteem and confidence of children and youth with specials needs, through the experience of flight.

Ken Langley, a regular participant at our monthly Frist Friday Book Synopsis, is very involved with Challenge Air, and we thank him for this recommendation.
