2013 – A Question to Ponder

I’m not fully back at my desk yet, but I have mapped out a few posts for the next few days. Not quite a New Year’s Resolutions approach, but all will tackle this simple business question:

What will you focus on in 2013?

And here is a clue – you can’t focus on too many things, or you will end up accomplishing very little.

More to come.

  1. I am the one who requested of you.  -Could you please find some conservation oriented business books???  Duh.   Sustainability is the byword.   Includes a lot of sins.    I will tell you that Miss Anna M. Clark is an amazing lady.  She is a public speaker.  She is a mom of preschoolers.  She wrote a book, rejected by many homemakers, intitled, GREEN AMERICAN STYLE.  She essentially has effectively started a conservation group and gotten several people to work for her–the group was first called creationcare (national affiliation with Dr. Matthew Sleeth, environmentalist) and got a http://www.wiggio.com    communication group.  Because someone taking communication responsibility had a different take–the group got renamed and affiliated with a different national group called Interfaith Power and Light and the group still has the http://www.wigggio.com   communication site.  Since last November 2011 this group has probably met 15 times with different formats, business, public, planning, social, lectures.  Really amazing when you consider the difficulty of good attendance-n ot a book club but nearly a club and growing.  The mission–try to get church congregations to act–for instance, ceramic mugs on Sunday morning instead of styrofoam; church or community gardens with produce for food banks; building energy saving campaigns; and church recycle bins are examples.     Then I also discovered that the Sierra Club recommended site  http://www.nwei.com  is excellent. Instead of book reviews of one book (15 minutes on steroids) the workbooks have short summaries of important passages from many books.  So when you attend an 8 week, one night a week, workbook course, you are introduced to the best literature and authors on the conservation related subject.   -sort of many books reviewed on steroids and sited.     I have also gotten connected with activists groups.  Don’t see much about protest or disagreement on conservation subjects on the front page of the Dallas Morning News.  When it comes to the petroleum industry and all the fabrics, organics, farm practices, machineries, manufacturing chemicals, plastics, containers, fuels, energy, cars, homes that go with it–notice no arguments.  No arguments, no accident.  Much money to be made just concentrating on business creation, management, corporate supply chains. sources of energy. world markets and money.     Peace, I have a kid in college; does that explain why I have not been to a breakfast in a very long time.  Maybe I will get there yet.  Meanwhile, could you find a book that mentions solar energy, solar panels, versus fracking the Barnett Shale.     I found a magazine entitled HOME POWER, Solar, Wind, Hydro, Design, Build, published since 1987. It is full of businesses and products to buy right now and please with the government bankrupt–don’t wait for a government subsidy to invest on the solar panels for the roof of your home, although it would save a lot of sacred water.
