The Coming Jobs War & Lencioni’s The Advantage – Coming for the October First Friday Book Synopsis

We haven’t run out of good books yet…

Every month since April, 1998. we have presented synopses of two business books.  Though it is no substitute for reading the books for yourself, many find our synopses valuable tools in their life-long-learning tool kit.

For our October 5, 2012 First Friday Book Synopsis, we have chosen two useful and stimulating books.  Karl Krayer will present his synopsis of the new Patrick Lencioni book, The Advantage: Why Organizational Health Trumps Everything Else In Business.  This is not one of Lencioni’s “fable,” books though they are great.  (His The Five Dysfunctions of a Team is still a best-seller, and absolutely worth reading).  But this new volume by Lencioni is “straight,” not in fable form.  Here’s his explanation for this decision, from the Amazon page:

Your other books have all been fables, but The Advantage isn’t. Why?
Unlike my other books, The Advantage is not written as a fable because the nature of the subject it covers is just too broad to fit into one story.

I will present my synopsis of The Coming Jobs War by Jim Clifton, CEO of Gallup.  There is no more important issue in this in-transition-era than the issue of jobs.

Come join us on October 5 for great food, wonderful networking, and two useful and important business book synopses.  You’ll be able to register soon from our home page.
