On April 1, I will present my synopsis of the much-awaited second book by Adam Grant. Originals: How Non-conformists Move the World is Mr. Grant’s follow-up book to Give and Take, which I presented at the June, 2013 First Friday Book Synopsis. Sheryl Sandberg (of Facebook) wrote the foreword to this book, and it is already generating much conversation.
Karl Krayer will present his synopsis of Reclaiming Conversation: The Power of Talk in a Digital Age by Sherry Turkle. This book also has generated much conversation. All one has to do is walk across a college campus to know that many people are buried in their SmartPhones more than they are talking to each other. This book talks about the need to keep talking in live, face-to-face conversation in this very digital age.
Our April 1st session will be the first of our 19th year of gatherings of the First Friday Book Synopsis. Two books a month, each and every month, since April, 1998. If you are in the DFW area on April 1, come join us.
I hope you will plan to join us as we begin our 19th year. The registration link will be available soon through the “Register Now” button on our home page.
Here’s the flier for the April 1st session, with all the details. (By the way, we will have a bonus session led by Tom Meyer immediately following our regular session).
