Coming for the August 7 First Friday Book Synopsis: General Stanley McChrystal’s Team of Teams and Marshall Goldsmith’s Triggers

We had a wonderful session at this morning’s First Friday Book Synopsis (yes, on the 2nd Friday of July, because of the holiday conflict).

I presented my synopsis of the new Elon Musk book, Elon Musk: Tesla, SpaceX, and the Quest for a Fantastic Future by Ashlee Vance. I will post my lessons and takeaways from this book soon on this blog.

And, you will be able to purchase our July synopses soon — with the audio of our presentations, along with our comprehensive handouts — from our companion site, (Karl Krayer’s selection for this morning was Move: Putting America’s Infrastructure Back in the Lead by Rosabeth Moss Kanter).

For next month, we have chosen two new books, both in the top 10 business books in this month’s New York Times business books best sellers list. Karl will present his synopsis of the #1 best seller, the new book by Marshall Goldsmith: Triggers: Creating Behavior That Lasts–Becoming the Person You Want to Be (by Marshall Goldsmith and Mark Reiter). And I have selected the new book by General Stanley McChrystal: Team of Teams: New Rules of Engagement for a Complex World (by General Stanley McChrystal, with Tantum Collins, David Silverman, and Chris Fussell — #7 on this month’s New York Times list).

Here’s the flier with all of the information. You will be able to register soon for our August 7 session from this web site. Come join us – it is truly a fast-paced hour of learning, with great networking opportunities.  (Oh — and the buffet breakfast at the Park City Club is maybe the best in Dallas. It is really good!).
